Joe Shortsleeve applies the attention to detail that made him an Emmy award-winning investigative journalist to overcoming challenges for clients. He draws upon three decades of experience as an investigative reporter and television news anchor, drilling down to core issues and crafting solutions to serve clients’ goals. Prior to Liberty Square Group, Mr. Shortsleeve spent a decade, as Chief Correspondent and ITEAM reporter for WBZ-TV 4; the CBS owned and operated station in the sixth largest media market in the country. He understands how the media, across all platforms, affects the lives of corporate executives, politicians, and the average citizen and he has a vast network of contacts. By experience and by instinct, he knows how best to reach the right audience and which message will resonate for optimal results.
Clients benefit from a dogged pursuit of a goal that characterized Mr. Shortsleeve’s 25 years at WBZ, when he covered some of the biggest regional news stories, from the Boston Marathon bombing to the plane crash that killed John F. Kennedy Jr. off Martha’s Vineyard. Joe’s ITEAM reports were known for an exceptional level of detailed research, which provided WBZ exclusive promotable content for the highly competitive 11 pm newscast in Boston. Mr. Shortsleeve’s memorable éxposes on the disappearance of millions in federal funds for cancer research to identifying the city’s worst landlord endure in many minds.
Mr. Shortsleeve also served as the Evening News Anchor for WBZ-TV from 1997 until 2004, and the primary weekday morning news anchor from 1994 to 1997. He also anchored the news coverage from the Boston Garden during the Democratic National Convention in Boston in 2004.
