Scott M. Ferson

Scott Ferson is the President of The Liberty Square Group.  Mr. Ferson brings twenty-five years of experience working with corporations, elected and appointed officials, community groups, and both traditional and new media to reach solutions to complex problems through a strong understanding of how the public responds to information.

 

Mr. Ferson has grown the Liberty Square Group, founded in 1999, into one of the most prominent full service public affairs firms in New England. He has built a team with strong public sector experience in Washington, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, and has expanded LSG with affiliates in New York and Madison, Wisconsin. At LSG, he has assembled a respectable list of private-sector clients that have included Verizon, GenCorp Aerojet, the Center for Technology Commercialization, Beacon Capital Partners, the Construction Industries of Massachusetts and the State Police Association of Massachusetts.

 

A former Press Secretary to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, he has also provided communications counsel to a number of notable political candidates, causes and organizations, including Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray and Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, the Special Olympics International Games, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Boston Temple Construction, Christy Mihos during his successful battle to retain his seat on the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

 

Mr. Ferson is a veteran of numerous political campaigns where he provided strategic counsel, including the Patrick/Murray campaign in 2006, the 1988 and 2004 presidential campaigns of Congressman Richard Gephardt, the 2001 campaign for Congressman Stephen Lynch and the 1994 campaign for Senator Ted Kennedy.  As a Democratic strategist, he has appeared on Fox News, Channel 2’s Greater Boston, News Night on New England Cable News, among others. For the past few years he has contributed to the National Journal’s Insider Poll as a “Democratic Insider,” and in 2010 he was named one of the top 100 “political influencers” in Massachusetts.

 

Mr. Ferson currently serves as a member of the Sail Boston Board of Directors, is Chair of the Belmont Library Foundation Board, and is a past President of the Board of the First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist.  He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
