A Senior Advisor at the Liberty Square Group, Joe Shortsleeve, an Emmy award winning journalist, draws upon over thirty years of experience as an investigative reporter and television news anchor. For the past decade, Shortsleeve has served as Chief Correspondent and ITEAM reporter for WBZ-TV 4; the CBS owned and operated station, in the sixth largest media market in the country. Mr. Shortsleeve has interviewed some of the most influential leaders in our region and has an extensive network of contacts.
Throughout his nearly 25 years at WBZ, Mr. Shortsleeve covered some of the biggest news stories in the region from the Marathon Bombing to the search for John F. Kennedy Junior's plane when it crashed off Martha's Vineyard. While Joe was at WBZ, the station won several major journalistic awards including an Edward R Morrow Award and more recently a Peabody Award. Joe’s ITEAM reports were known for an exceptional level of detail and research which provided WBZ exclusive promotable content for the highly competitive 11:00 pm newscast in Boston. Mr. Shortsleeve’s stories covered everything from millions of dollars federal grant money for cancer research going missing to Boston city officials attempting to take control of buildings from the city’s worst landlord.
Mr. Shortsleeve also served as the Evening News Anchor for WBZ-TV from 1997 until 2004, and the primary weekday morning news anchor from 1994 to 1997. He also anchored the news coverage from the Boston Garden during the Democratic National Convention in Boston in 2004.
Mr. Shortsleeve understands how the media, across all mediums, impacts the lives of corporate executives, politicians, and the average citizen. He knows which method, and perhaps more importantly which message, gets the best results.
Shortsleeve is a graduate of Holy Cross College and Boston College High School. He has three children and lives in the MetroWest region.
